Resourcing Emerging and Reestablishing Churches
Throughout the history of the mission of our church there has exited
an ongoing need for resources that are culturally relevant and sensitive.
Resources that reflect their own history and culture are being requested
by emerging and reestablishing churches.
Cooperation with new and emerging partner churches to generate Christian
Education resources appropriate for the emerging churches is a major
program of the Mission Education Unit. Staff from the unit facilitates
the translation/adaptation/writing of resource material for youth and
adult Bible Study and teacher training. We work with the Joint committee
on Indigenous Resources - GBGM and GBOD, and designated Cross-Functional
Teams to interpret, hear needs, and respond to the ongoing development
of resources.
Mission Education cooperates with these partner churches in creating
Christian Education resources and to facilitate and enable partner churches
to produce their own resources that are global in scope but specific
to their church.
Presently Mission Education is working with Resource Development Teams
in the emerging churches of Cambodia, Nepal, Cameroon, and Senegal and
the reemerging churches in Russia, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. Initial
planning for extending the program to Yugoslavia, Hungary, and Slovak
Republic is taking place.
Mission Education facilitates networking and the sharing of stories,
ideas, artwork and learning’s between participating Resource Teams.
