Dr. José Miguez Bonino, an Argentine Methodist leader,
challenges us as follows: "It is our Christian privilege and
duty to witness all the resources we have, to the creative and
redemptive will of God in favor of life and against death."
Gifts to Encounter with Christ in Latin America and the Caribbean
will support:
Leadership Training and Education:
- For new leaders in marginalized communities who organize teams
to teach community-based health and wellness.
- For youth and young adults as they take on leadership roles
and work with their churches and communities to address concerns
such
as poverty, unemployment, education, and violence.
- For women in the church who work to address issues such as health
and education for all children, alleviation of conflict and violence,
economic development, and women's participation in church and society.
Missionary Endeavors:
- Programs to mobilize Methodists to engage in people-to-people experiences
of service and witness across international borders.
- The receiving and sending of volunteers and persons in mission
as a cooperative and enriching experience that transforms the witness
and life of the church and the community.
- Mission exchanges of International Persons in Mission among the
churches of Latin America and the Caribbean
Evangelization and New Church Development:
-
Efforts that call for an initial decision for Jesus Christ.
- Nurture and accompaniment for new church communities through the
region.
- Revitalization and outreach ministries in already existing Methodist
Churches.
- Schools of evangelism and mission education for laypersons serving
as promoters of evangelization.
