What is God calling your congregation to be in the world today?

Discovery Church Journey is a resource that can take your church on a journey of transformation, of discerning and developing the changes needed to respond to God's call for your church. This resource is offered as a means to guide your church through a process that will lead to a reorientation of its mission in light of the changing global landscape of our lives.

What will the Journey require?
True transformation addresses the very nature of what it means to be the church. A church must address its entire system of being in mission and ministry to become transformed. This goes to the heart of how the church functions, how it makes decisions, how people relate to one another, how the church's image of itself influences ministry and whether the church is focused on itself or others. As with any discovery, it takes patience, community involvement, analysis, dialogue, time and persistence.

What will the Discovery Church Journey provide?
The Journey is a workbook. It is a step by step guide designed to help a local church discover or rediscover its mission. It is not a quick fix. The church must have patience to engage in a process that discerns its calling, discovers its community and context, makes clear decisions about its future, and trains its laity and clergy.

Who will accompany us on this journey?
The Evangelization and Church Growth Program Area can help you map this journey with training and seminars. Seminars are tailored to guide individuals, clergy, lay persons, and church teams through the Discovery Church Journey process of revitalizing congregations. Seminars teach how to begin assembling a spiritual toolbox to help break down the imaginary walls - or comfort zones - of our sanctuaries, so that we become better servants to the world in which we live.
