"Exploring Your Faith with Lewis & Clark"
August 29 - September 3, 2004

Primetimers: An Educational and Mission Service Experience for Older Adults
A Program of the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church

Explore how your own faith journey parallels that of Lewis & Clark on this 200th anniversary of the Corps of Discovery. Participants will walk in the footsteps of Lewis & Clark and follow their paddle strokes during guided field trips. Come learn about their struggles and triumphs and the native peoples they met along the last leg of their journey to the Pacific Ocean. Primetimers will have an opportunity to help build an authentic Chinook Indian plankhouse at a village site archaeologists know was twice visited by the Expedition. See the pounding surf at Cape Disappointment and the place Sacagawea and her infant son Pomp saw the great beached whale.

Come and discover how Portland/Vancouver fulfilled Lewis and Clark's description as a fine place for a port and a "handsome valley" where Jason Lee and other Methodist missionaries would soon begin to spread the Good News to the northwest.
