The Womens Division urges United Methodist Women to join the Childrens Sabbath National Observance.
Gods Shalom is indeed needed among our nations children.
- 10 million of whom have no health insurance
- 9 out of 10 of whom are children of working parents
Providing adequate health care, immunizations, nutrition, and prenatal care can make Gods shalom of wholeness and healing known.
This Childrens Sabbath focuses on the health and wholeness of children. Kits for this observance contain worship resources, lesson plans for all ages, and child health advocacy ideas for the local unit and/or congregation. The kits are being sent to all Conference Mission Coordinators for Spiritual Growth and to all Conference Mission Coordinators for Social Action to promote the Childrens Sabbath as a worship opportunity that inspires advocacy for children. This is an excellent resource to be used in program planning to implement the Campaign for Children and lift up the needs of children.
To order a Childrens Sabbath Kit, call the Childrens Defense Fund at (202) 628-8787. The cost is $5.00. For further information about the Campaign for Children or the Childrens Sabbath, contact Julie Taylor, executive secretary for children, youth, and family advocacy, at (212) 870-3766.
