The Women's Division
1999 National Seminar
What Does the Lord
Require of Us? To do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with
God.
--Micah 6:8
The Purpose of the 1999 National Seminar
The National Seminar is an opportunity for United
Methodist Women from diverse backgrounds and age groups to meet
on common ground to explore God's requirement in our lives.
Acting on Micah 6:8--What does the Lord
require of Us? To do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with
[our] God-- The National Seminar will focus
on:
- our Biblical mandate for social action and
understandings of God's will for our lives as we seek to
be faithful followers of Jesus Christ in our local and
global communities;
- analyses of global issues currently affecting
women, children and youth and positions of the church,
governments and other organizational structures;
- systematic approaches to faith-based organizing,
action and advocacy;
- ministries of justice and mercy, in which
participants will actively listen, share and participate;
- development of a support system for those
committed to social action and recognition that in spite
of human limitations, God will empower us to accomplish
our task; and
- renewal of our personal commitment to ministries
of justice and mercy.
