Women’s Division Director Emily Dawson thanked United Methodist Women and the Women’s Division during the division’s October annual meeting:
"I often tell people that in life everyone has a chance, and does, change the world. Most people don’t get to know what those chances and opportunities are until after they happen. For me, the phone call I got in May 2000 was the day I knew I was going to get to help change the world. That was the day when I was asked to serve on the Women’s Division....
"When I was asked to represent United Methodist Women, who give me the most meaning and purpose in my life, at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa, I was so honored and humbled. I am proud...to be a United Methodist Women member and a servant of Christ, serving women and youth and children in the world. Thank you...for the opportunity."
