Woman: Hello! Where are you girls all dressed up?
GOLD: We're going to this thing.
SILVER: To this UMW thing.
BRONZE: Yes, to this United Methodist Women's gathering thing.
Woman: Wow, it must be some affair! You ladies are all dressed up! Why the fancy outfits?
GOLD: Well, I heard something about a gold award.
SILVER: And a silver award
BRONZE: And also a bronze award. ..if we did something special.
WOMAN: So what is it you did that you are receiving an award?
ALL: Oh, we won't get the awards until October. We're just wearing our colors
to remind us of our goals.
BRONZE: My unit is working on accomplishing 8 of the items like using the
Prayer Calendar at each meeting and we're going to write to 5 missionaries.
SILVER: My unit is trying to do 11 items on the list and we've already had a Children's Sabbath, and three are going to the Spiritual Growth Retreat in April.
GOLD: My unit wants to complete all 18 items on the list! We can do it! We have
started by using the Program Book, subscribing to Response Magazine, and we sent
someone to the Day at the Legislature.
WOMAN: Is this something new? How can I find out more? What will the awards be?
BRONZE: Yes! This is the first year to do it!
SILVER: And all the Mission Coordinators are going to promote it!
GOLD: We don't know what the awards will be and it doesn't matter .
ALL: Because we are United Methodist Women and we want to be informed by being a MISSION TODAY Unit!
BRONZE: The purpose is to encourage the use of mission resources throughout the
organization.
SILVER: And the purpose is to increase contact between our local units and
mission personnel and mission projects.
GOLD: And the purpose is to expand concepts of mission including social
justiceas mission.
BRONZE: And the purpose is to energize United Methodist Women. ..
SILVER: ...to be more involved in mission
GOLD: ...through prayer, study and action
ALL: We hope every unit becomes a MISSION TODAY unit!
