Stephanie
Biggs-Scribner is a scholar of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament)
who provides background, context, and linguistic insights.
We .also invited Stephanie and her daughter, Maggie, to
talk to each other about the stories in letters to each
other.
Maggie
Biggs-Scribner was ten years old when she was invited
to share in this letter writing venture with her mother
so that readers could have a child's eye view of each
story from the Bible.
The
Reverend Dr. Linda H. Hollies is a noted author, teacher,
and preacher who brings the stories to life with an interpretive
voice. Her approach resonates with that of the Midrash,
a collection of teachings by first-millennium a.d. Jewish
interpreters who wrote elaborations on the Scriptures
to glean as much meaning from them as possible.
Bishop
Minerva Carcaño provides an insightful study guide
to help readers deal with the fact that Children of the
Bible is not exactly kids' stuff. We might wish our study
to be a "warm and fuzzy" experience. We might
want to learn how to read the Bible stories in this book
to our children and grandchildren. These expectations
may be fulfilled in certain ways, but in other ways this
study may be as disturbing as it is comforting.
