Material Resources for Giving On-line Catalog

This catalog will aid individuals and groups to respond within our connectional system to mission projects around the world. Many of the institutions listed were started by the women of our predecessor organizations. The material resources listed in this catalog are items that have been requested by the institution/project under which they are listed.

BEFORE making a collection or sending a box of supplies, please contact the person named to determine that the need still exists. U.S. mission contact people are listed by institution.

Responding to God's Grace

And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work....you glorify God by your obedience to the confession of the gospel of Christ and by the generosity of your sharing with them and with all others.

(2 Cor. 9: 8, 13)

Responding by Giving

United Methodist Women have a long history of responding to God's grace by reaching out to persons in need. Giving involves sharing our money, time, talents, and material resources. Responding to material needs is simply another way of giving, another way that members of United Methodist Women are in mission, as they actively collect material items to meet a variety of needs.

When we respond by giving material resources to programs in need of specific supplies, we affirm the dignity of the people who will benefit directly from them. As you gather and sort items to send to our sisters, brothers, and children throughout the world, consider, then, that you are sending a gift to a family member. Ask yourself these questions:

Is this ready to use? The answer should be "yes."

Does it need cleaning or repair? If the answer is "yes," then it needs to be recycled or discarded and not given to another person.

Will someone living in extreme circumstances be able to use this item? The answer should be "yes."

Is it practical? The answer should be "yes."

Would I give this to a member of my own family to use? The answer should always be "yes."

As people of faith, we believe that we are part of a global community. May our gifts reflect our genuine respect, love, and concern for the members of our family around the world.
