Wilderness

"The wilderness" was a desolate and dangerous place in which the Israelites wandered for forty years before entering Palestine. Read these stories in the books of Exodus and Numbers. The wilderness was to the south and east of Palestine and is sometimes called the "Transjordan." The wilderness plays an important role in many biblical stories, including the baptism and temptation story of Jesus.
