"The land" -- often called "The Promised Land" -- is also referred to as "Palestine." It is a relatively narrow strip of land between the sea to the west and the desert to the east, linking the continent of Africa with the continent of Asia. Symbolically for the Israelites, the land refers to God’s good promise, future hope, and salvation.
