Four days of soul-stirring worship and workshops
and exhibits on spiritual and justice issues at
United Methodist Women’s Assembly came to a
finale of music and praise Sunday, May 7. Nearly
7,000 women and some men then headed home from
the once-every-four-year event in Anaheim,
Calif., inspired to further their mission across
the United States and around the world.

Living Justice Seminar
Concern for and commitment to living out the
Christian vocation of justice for all persons is
alive and well among the recent participants in
a Living Justice Seminar, held from July 28 –
August 1, 2004 in New York City. Coordinated by
the Deaconess Program Office through the support
of the Women’s Division and Mission Personnel
Program Area, the event brought together a group
of young United Methodist women (ages 20 – 39)
to explore new directions and social justice
issues.

New York City Youth to Lead Worship at Assembly 2002: Response Daily
Ms. Morris, a professional singer and public-
school teacher, recruited the 29 choristers, 8-14
years old, who will perform tonight. The youth
are from Middle School No. 44 and Hunter College
Elementary School, both New York City public
schools, and Columbia Prep, a private elementary
school affiliated with Columbia University in New
York City. Ms. Morris and "Fly, Pretty Angel,
Fly!" co-director Barbara Ames have been
rehearsing with the youth for about four months.
The youth love the production, the directors said.
