The Lechaion road originated at the the seaport of Lechaion (Leheo) on the Gulf of Corinth and entered Corinth from the north, where it widened to more than twenty feet with walks on either side and led right into the agora (marketplace). In Corinth, the road, paved with flagstones, was lined with sidewalks, places of worship, administrative buildings, arcades and shops.
