Mission at the 2002 Assembly!
Material Resources for Mission
Bring a pak/kit to load into a cargo container (in the exhibit area) for
the UMCOR Depot.
Choices (please
follow the directions EXACTLY):
- Bedding Pak
contains:
- 2 flat double bed sheets
- 2 pillow cases
- 2 pillows
- Please bring new materials that are unopened. Pack in a
12"x12"x16" carton.
- Health Kit contains:
- 1 hand towel
- 1 comb (regular size, not pocket)
- 1 bath bar of soap in original wrapper
- 1 tube of toothpaste
- 1 washcloth
- 1 nail file or clipper
- 1 toothbrugh
- 6 adhesive bandages (such as Band Aids)
- Place the items in the new towel and tie with string or yarn, and
place inside a sealed, one-gallon plastic bag with a zipper closure.
- School Kit
contains:
- 1 blunt scissors
- 1 30-centimeter ruler
- 1 2-1/2" eraser
- 1 box of 8 crayons
- 2 pads of 8 1/2"x11" ruled paper
- 1 pencil sharpener
- 6 unsharpened pencils with erasers
- 12 sheets of construction paper
- Prepare a 12"x14" (finished size) cloth bag with handles and
a closure (velcro, snap or button). Place the items in the bag.
- Layette contains:
- 6 cloth diapers
- 2 baby wash cloths
- 2 diaper pins
- 2 receiving blankets
- 2 shirts
- 2 gowns
- 1 sweater
- Please be sure that all items are NEW. Bundle the items inside
one receiving blanket and secure with diaper pins.
- Sewing Kit
contains:
- 3 yards of cotton or cotton-blend solid or print fabric (there must be
3 uncut yards of fabric or the kit is not usable)
- 1 pair of sewing scissors
- 1 package of needs
- 1 spool of thread
- 6 matching buttons
- Wrap sewing notions in the fabric and tie with string or strip of
cloth. Place items in a sealed on-gallon plastic bag with zipper
closure.
- If you are not able to
assembly a kit/pak prior to the Assembly, bring contents to be assembled on
site!
- We need volunteers to help
Assemble the Kits/Pak on site. This can be an individual or
unit project.. Send the names of your volunteers to cnesbitt@gbgm-umc.org
by March 1, 2002.
