As Christian Women, we are called to:
Sing a New Song
God working anew in us
Songs built upon a history of hope,
of struggle, of lamentations, of justice
Sing a New Song
Everyone has a song to sing
Listen and learn
Different voices, different languages,
different styles, different rhythms
...a universal harmony
Sing a New Song
We confess that sometimes
we have used songs to force
conformity rather than unity
We have sometimes not
shared our songs,
while making others sing
for our entertainment
Nobody owns the song... it is God's song
Sing a New Song
There is solidarity in song
Songs bring us strength
and hope and love
Songs can be soothing,
challenging, healing,
accepting, renewing,
celebrative...
Sing a New Song!
The Purpose of Assembly Shall Be...
- To bring together members of United Methodist Women from all areas of Church and Society;
- To confront them with areas of critical need and concern;
- To challenge them to responsible action; and
- To help achieve a sense of unity in worship and in mission.
