In The Evening...
Friday and Saturday evening performances are for your entertainment and enjoyment.
Friday Evening
On Friday night, Sisters' Grace will also amaze you with their string performance of a variety of music.
Sisters' Grace, featuring Beverly Lewis Hunter (piano), Prudence McDaniel (violoncello), and Marilyn E. Thornton Tribble (violin), delivers a musical performance of unparalleled distinction in a repertoire that bridges the works by Mendelssohn, Schubert, Ellington, Garner, and African-American spirituals. These multidimensional performers offer infinite enjoyment to any listener, from the classically trained to the culturally tuned. They composed and recorded material for the International Theatrical Production, "O Fetichista," performed in Portugal. The ensemble has appeared throughout the New York Metropolitan area in major concerns, recitals and cultural events since it formed in 1992.
Beverly Lewis Hunter earned her Master's Degree in Music and studies with the eminent American composer George Walker, Professor Emeritus at Rutgers University. Prudence McDaniel earned her Master's Degree from the Manhattan School of Music, appears with the Wheeling symphony, and is a principal cellist with the San Damiano Consort. Marily E. Thornton Tribble earned her Master's Degree from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University and currently teaches violin at Travecca Nazarene University and Tennessee State University. She is enrolled in the Master of Divinity program at Vanderbilt University and is the Pastoral Assistant in Christian Education and Worship Ministry at Hobson United Methodist Church in East Nashville.
On Friday, also enjoy the sounds of Tish Hinojosa. Read a bio of this performer and activist. Tish Hinojosa has forged a unique style located somewhere among her Mexican roots and her time as a Nashville tunesmith. As the youngest of 13 children born into a Mexican-American family in San Antonio, Texas, Tish began her life hearing the many traditions of Muexican music as well as 60s pop music. Multi-cultural and multi-layered, her music is a true fusion of disparate influences where identifiable components come together to form something vital and fresh. She is an artist whose creative sensitivity and social/political interests have continued while maintaining a career and family. She has worked on behalf of the United Farmworkers of America, the National Women's Political Caucus and the National Association of Bilingual Education. "I lend support to causes concerning especially minority children and self-empowerment of those who have no voice." Tish has recorded for A&M records, Warner and Rounder. Her releases include "Sign of Truth" and "Dreaming from the Labyrinth/Sonar del Laberinto" as well as her children's album, "Cada Niņo/Every Child," a 1996 award-winning, bilingual record. "Sign of Truth," her most recent release, was co-produced with her longtime guitar partner, Marvin Dykhuis.
