  • A life dedicated to Shining for Racial Justice
As we prepare for the UMW Assembly in a few weeks, we are considering what it means to “Shine.” I am reminded of the song, “They will know we are Christians by our love." Paul describes this love eloquently in 1 Corinthians, but “shining” and showing God’s love in the world, a love that “rejoices with the truth,” is not always an easy or safe road to take, even though it brings great rewards.

  • Praise God! God is Good!
When I think of glorifying God, I can’t help but think of singing.

I love to hear the birds early in the morning as they welcome a new day. It doesn’t matter if it is cloudy or chilly, they sing their early morning songs of joy.

  • Love and Faith Make for Healing and Praise

  • USA PATRIOT Act Update
Action Alert On Friday March 3, 2006 the U.S. Senate renewed the USA Patriot Act by a vote of 89-10.  The Senate’s renewal (reauthorization) package makes 14 of 16 temporary provisions permanent and sets four-year expirations on the others.  After the Senate renewed the USA Patriot Act the bill was sent to the U.S. House of Representatives for a vote.  On Tuesday March 7, 2006 the House voted 280-138 to approve the Senate-passed reauthorization.  President Bush is expected to sign the reauthorization package before the 2001 law expires on March 10, 2006.

  • Good Morning, God!
Betty Sue Mason, Women's Division Director Assembly Meditation:  "Rise, Shine, Glorify God!"

I am reminded of the elderly gentleman who, when he awakened each morning, prayed, "Good morning God, what are you up to today? I want to be a part of it."

United Methodist Women have a tremendous opportunity to stand up, speak up, and reach out to those who cannot speak for themselves.
