A World without Nuclear Weapons
The United States has more nuclear weapons than any
other country on the planet. More and more countries
possess nuclear weapons or have acquired the
technology to make them. The tremendous resources
that nations invest in nuclear arms development could
be spent on education, health care, and anti-poverty
programs.

New Directors Begin Four-Year Tenure
Fifty new directors gathered in Nashville, Tenn., Sept.
9-12, for the organizational meeting of the Women's
Division and training about their responsibilities as new
directors for the national arm of United Methodist
Women. The new directors were elected in March by
other United Methodist Women from their jurisdiction.

Poverty Survey to Assist United Methodist Women in Mission in Their Communities
During the summer of 2004, the section on Christian
Social Responsibility (CSR) conducted a Poverty
Survey, implemented by the Social Action Mission
Coordinators from local units. It was a means to gather
some basic data about the economic and social
conditions in their communities.
