  • Gospel Sheds Light on What is Required 

    The Rev. Traci C. West, Ph.D., assistant professor of ethics and African American studies at Drew Theological Seminary in Madison, N.J., led a series of three Bible studies with National Seminar participants. She turned to Gospel passages to shed light on the seminar’s theme Scripture.

  • Hope, Faith, Set on God 
    Reading Peter’s letter to the ancient church provides insight. The first few verses refer to living hope. This is the kind of hope we need in the 21st century for our United Methodist Women units, for our churches, for our personal lives. Our world is going through such turmoil, we need ways to deepen our faith to keep hope alive for ourselves and for the hopeless.

  • The Good Shepherd Installation Service
    : Have cups of water on a table near where the officers will stand, one for each officer. Also have prepared before the meeting Shepherds crooks to be given to each officer. Ask someone to sing the song at the end of the service, it may be sung a cappella. Be sure to get the name of each officer and the office to which they have been elected.

    In rapid response to Hurricane Isabel last week, the staff and volunteers at the UMCOR-Sager Brown Depot sent 2,007 flood buckets to Merci Center in Goldsboro, NC through the North Carolina Conference United Methodist Church. “The call came through. The flood buckets left on Wednesday, arrived Friday. As soon as they can use them, they’ll have them, ” reports Glenn Druilhet, director of Depot Operations, UMCOR Sager Brown, Baldwin, Louisiana
