About the Greenwich Village Neighborhood

  • The following places of interest are a stroll/walk away from Alma Mathews House: Chelsea, St. Vincent's Hospital and Medical Center, New School for Social Research, Parsons School of Design, New York University, and Fashion Institute of Technology.

  • The following destinations are approximately 10 minutes by subway: Madison Square Garden, Macy's, Soho, Penn Station (Amtrak), Little Italy, Empire State Building, Times Square, and Chinatown.

  • The following sights are approximately 15 minutes by subway: Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Center, World Trade Center site, Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park, United Nations, and Wall Street.

  • The following attractions are approximately 30 minutes by subway: Whitney Museum, American Museum of Natural History, Metropolitan Museum, Columbia University, and Guggenheim Museum.

  • The three closest airports to us are: LaGuardia Airport, Newark International Airport, and JFK International Airport, which are approximately 45 minutes to an hour away, allowing for traffic, by car/taxi.

  • The easiest, safest, and most convenient way to arrive at 275 West 11th Street from the airports is by taxi or private car service. If you are thinking of using public transportation for arrival from an airport, remember that taxi prices are per car, while all other forms of transportation are priced per person. Also, carrying luggage may be difficult on public transportation and it is possible for people to become lost or be delayed.

  • If coming by taxi from either Penn Station or Grand Central Station, tell the cab driver to take 9th Ave. south and continue into Bleecker Street. Take a left turn into Perry Street, another left turn into West 4th Street and final left turn into West 11th Street to find 275 West 11th Street on the right side of the street.
