Worship Resources: Monday Worship |
The following are the opening worship and vespers for the United Methodist Women's National Seminar, August 4, 2003.
MONDAY WORSHIP
THE BURNING QUESTIONS
Entrance Hymn: “Sing the Lord a New Song” #13 Global Praise 2
Ten people each with two with colorful blocks of wood (tempra) which they clap together on the down beat of each measure. They can bow with each clap. It becomes a very simple dance. They line up in an open “V” shape on either side of the altar and the others pass through to the altar. Eight people with candles come in and place them on the altar. One person enters with the woman with a child sculpture. When all are lined up in front of the congregation, the song ends. At the beginning of the singing of “Holy Holy Holy” they place the blocks on the altar before they sit down. Others continue to clap with their hands as they go back to their seats in the front row. Reserve front row. Perhaps get sari scarves to wrap around their waists per Indonesia.]

Hymn: “I Lift Up My Eyes to the Hills” # 45 Global Praise 2 verse 1
Unison Witness:
We are a people of hope who look hopelessness in the eye and say YES to life!
We are a people of faith who witness to changes because of the power of God’s love.
We are a people of the resurrection because we know death does not have the final word.
We are a people of the book who know that millions have been faithful and gone before.
We are a people of prayer who know that our voices rise with the millions of others who cry out to God.
