Your parents or grandparents used to tell you stories?
![]() Story Telling was the first way that stories of the Bible were passed down through generations. |
That's how the
stories of the Bible first began: A mother told a son. A teacher told a student. A son told a friend. A father told a daughter... |
Is there a reason you can remember these? Do you remember camp songs?
Songs are also easy to remember,
so they were easy to pass down from generation to generation.
From these songs came the book of Psalms, which was like a
"hymnal" for Jewish worship. But these songs could also
tell a story.
Psalm 3 - A Psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom
Psalm 30 - A song of dedication of the temple of David
Psalm 90 - A prayer of Moses
Psalm 120 (clear to 134) - Songs of ascents, which the people sang as they climbed the hill to enter Jerusalem for holy festivals.
Eventually, the stories were
written down.
Let's move on and see.
