The links on this page go to noncanonical or "outside books." These are ancient writings that are not in the Protestant canon, even though they may be as old as biblical books.
Some noncanonical books almost made it to the inside but were dropped before the canon was "closed." Other books never came close to making it "inside." Some books are "orthodox," others are "heretical"; all of them enhance our information about our Judeo-Christian heritage.

The NT Apocrypha is divided into different groups: Acts, Apocalypses, Gospels, and Writings
Most of the manuscripts in the Nag Hammadi collection are Gnostic; half of these Christian Gnostic. In addition are other manuscripts that are Christian but not explicitly Gnostic, such as The Acts of Peter and the Twelve Apostles. Other manuscripts, The Sentences of Sextus, The Thunder, Perfect Mind, and Plato, Republic 588A-589B, are neither Gnostic nor Christian.
