Lakerayburn UMW of San Rayburn, TX celebrates 135yrs in mission with picnic and birthday party in back yard of UMW member. There were 10 members present and a mission response moment was given on the work being done in Cuba.
St. Paul's UMW - Brooklyn, NY Tea Party focused on the celebration of thier organization's 135th years in mission. A short skit depicted early missionaries, Isabella Thronburn and Dr. Clair Swain's outreach in other countries. The exhibit displayed pictures of mission of yesterday today and tomorrow. Youth performed in celebration skit.
Oakley UMW - Asheville, NC District celebrated with a special birthday party.There was a beautiful birthday cake decorated with the 135th year logo. Special guest Barbara Campbell was the guest speaker. A map of the world was displayed and former missionaries (who attended their church and are members of UMW) pictures were placed near the country where they served.
Members of the local unit Wesley United Methodist church women and future members celebrated the 135 years in mission in Fellowship Hall of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Mansfield, Louisiana. Past presidents were honored through lighting of individual candles with reception following.
