Income Generation

The purpose of the Stabilization Through Income Generation (STIG) Program was to assist small micro urban and rural businesses that have the potential for development and sustainability but lack access to training and capital. With funding from GBGM, this Kosovo-wide program served entrepreneurs of all ethnic groups who had been overlooked by traditional financial institutions. Activities included the provision of four grants to four local businesses; disbursal of over 600 micro-credit loans to Kosovo Albanian and Serbian entrepreneurs; development of a Business Services Office offering the same support services presently available in the Albanian community to Serbian businesses; development of 12 inter-ethnic business linkages for 22 Kosovo Albanian and Serbian businesses through the services of an Inter-ethnic Business Liaison; and provision of high-quality business training to over 500 entrepreneurs of all ethnic groups in Kosovo.
