UMCOR Bosnia and Herzegovina

BiH News
Salko Memisevic and Jusef Kurspahic are both members of the Beekeepers Association in Visegrad

Association of Beekeepers in Visegrad

Registered in January 2003, the beekeepers association is new and covers the area of Visegrad Municipality. On registration, the association had 39 members of mixed ethnicity. Today, there are 64 members.

The association approached UMCOR and submitted their business plan, which was approved. They have received donations of a variety of beekeeping equipment to be distributed amongst the members. They plan to produce beehives which will be delivered to 30 beneficiaries: 15 to Bosniak and 15 to Bosnian Serb members. They also plan to employ 6 members to make beehives. Apart from providing beekeeping equipment, the association will work as a center for the distribution/sale of produce such as honey, beeswax and more. They will provide training and education for their members.

The association plans to expand activities to other municipalities and hopes to grow into a regional association.
