UMCOR NGO was founded in 1993. Its headquarter offices are based in New
York (U.S.A.). A physical presence is currently maintained in field offices (Missions) around the world. Field office staff interact directly with beneficiaries and provide technical assistance and management oversight in the implementation of programs.
UMCOR NGO is one of five units that together form the United Methodist Committee On Relief (UMCOR), which was founded in 1940. Within United Methodist structures, the UMCOR office is part of the Health & Relief unit of the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM). GBGM is responsible for setting the overall goals of United Methodist mission work and supervises the activities of UMCOR and the NGO Unit.
