Detail of Map of Afghanistan, Click for Full MapThe UMCOR staff in Tajikistan worked with Mercy Corps to provide winter shelter and non-food items (NFI) in 2001 to 4,000 displaced families in the Taloqan region of Northern Afghanistan. The goal was to ensure that these families were able to endure the winter. UMCOR focused on shelter, hygiene, and kitchen supplies, and worked closely with other agencies to see that these families also have basic food items, water, sanitation facilities, and medical care.
