Dear friend of children,
"Jesus loves the little children . . . "
Through UMCOR, caring people like you have helped re-train 70 child soldiers each year and enabled them return to school and find civilian jobs. However, as this photograph makes clear, we have much more work to do.
In addition to helping child soldiers in Liberia, UMCOR is committed to caring for the wounded and helping families who have been forced to flee their homes. Although Ganta United Methodist Hospital was severely damaged recently as the war raged through its grounds, UMCOR is already prepared to resume health services at the church's hospital site. UMCOR also helps United Methodists in Liberia buy food for people who have been displaced.
With your help we can do much more. Tell your friends, neighbors and the members of your church about this humanitarian crisis and how they can help.
Your emergency support for the crisis in Liberia is especially needed. To make a gift at this time, simply . . .
Please designate your support for the Liberia Emergency Advance #150300. You may also specifically designate "child soldiers." One hundred percent of your tax-deductible gift will be used for this emergency. The generous giving of United Methodists to the One Great Hour of Sharing supplements the cost of Advance gifts.
Thank you, |
