Images of faith: Christians keep tenuous hold in middle east

A Palestinian man, a member of the Greek Orthodox church in the small West Bank village of Aboud, holds a cross he carved himself. Christians are a diminishing minority in the Holy Land; many have emmigrated abroad to escape violence and the economic hardship imposed by the Israeli occupation.

Action by Churches Together (ACT) accompanies churches and church agencies in the middle east as they work for human and social development and an end to violence. ACT's programs benefit people of all religious traditions.

Listen to Riah Abu El-Assal, the Anglican bishop in Jerusalem, discuss the international Christian community's response to the middle east crisis. "It's not enough for the church in the world to pray for us." 1:49.
