The 2004 South Asian tsunami devastated the war-torn Indonesian province of Aceh. The massive waves also struck the nearby island of Nias, which was then hit by a fatal earthquake three months later. Action by Churches Together (ACT), the international network of churches and church agencies responding to disasters, has been present in Aceh and Nias since the very beginning, and continues today to help rebuild homes, communities, and the region's economy. ACT members operating in the two areas include Church World Service (CWS), Yayasan Tanggul Benkana Indonesia (YTBI), and CD Bethesda/YAKKUM Emergency Unit (YEU). These images of their work were captured by Paul Jeffrey during March 2007. They may be reproduced at no cost by members of the ACT network, provided they are credited "Paul Jeffrey/Action by Churches Together".
