Through ACT (Action by Churches Together) and the churches in Turkey, UMCOR is working to provide temporary shelter for families in Izmit and is looking into longer term rehabilitation of housing. ACT partners are supplying tents, kitchen facilities, school supplies, water, sanitation facilities, food and other aid.
All material resources are being purchased locally, and the most effective way to respond to this crisis is through a financial contribution. UMCOR is not planning to send material resources from the U.S. at this point. Please continue your generous gifts to International Disaster Response #982450-8 "Turkey Earthquake." Call (800) 554-8583 to make a credit card donation.
UMCOR is currently working in Kosovo to help winterize homes. The damage is so extensive and widespread, that the goal is to winterize one room per family to get through the winter. Full housing rehabilitation work must wait until next spring. UMCOR is also working to ensure food security through food distribution and agricultural recovery programs. You may join in these ongoing relief efforts by giving to International Disaster Response #982450-8 "Kosovo."
Please pray for those whose suffer from natural disasters, war, hunger and poverty. UMCOR Hotline: |
