UMCOR continues to provide significant assistance to the people of Kosovo as they recover from the war. The UMCOR office in Pristina is coordinating UMCOR efforts. UMCOR is one of the lead agencies implementing recovery efforts, coordinating rebuilding and winterization work in an area of Kosovo that is home to both Serbs and Albanians. This situation calls for reconciliation and mediation efforts as well as rebuilding. UMCOR is also taking a leading role in providing food security for the people of Kosovo. Please continue your generous gifts to UMCOR's International Disaster Response #982450-8. United Methodists have assembled and sent more than 102,000 health kits to the UMCOR Depot in Baldwin, Louisiana over the past few months! And tens of thousands more are expected. Hundreds of volunteers from youth to seniors, from Louisiana, other parts of the U.S., Ireland and Africa have poured into the Depot to assist with processing these kits. Forty thousand health kits were recently distributed in Kosovo, Macedonia, Bosnia, Bolivia, and Honduras. Those remaining will not stay on the shelves long. United Methodists are utilizing the Depot to such an extent that the U.S. Postal Service has to open another post office in Baldwin! Persons who would like to help process incoming health, school and other types of kits may call (800) 334-4221. To find out about other volunteer opportunities throughout the U.S. and in other countries, call the Volunteer Line at (800) 918-3100. Your gifts to "Contain Your Joy" Advance #982730-7 will help cover shipping costs as UMCOR distributes these material resources throughout the world. Please pray for those who suffer from disasters, war, hunger and poverty. UMCOR Hotline: |
