UMCOR staff, consultants, and volunteers have been deployed to Oklahoma and Kansas to assist with relief and recovery efforts following the tornadoes which hit these regions yesterday. Nearly 9,000 homes have been affected with forty-five persons reported dead, and the death toll continues to rise. The National Guard has closed off the affected areas of Oklahoma City.

Members of UMCOR's Catastrophic Disaster Response Team are working diligently to help assess the tornado damage, and to aid in recovery efforts in both Oklahoma and Kansas. The extent of damage is still unknown but it has been reported that Moore and Del City have been hit the hardest. Many persons are without homes and UMCOR needs your help to make this relief work possible. Please send your gifts to UMCOR'S Spring Storms 1999 #901415-4.

Give through your local United Methodist Church or call (800) 554-8583 to make a credit card donation.

The Hotline will be updated on Friday, May 7 regarding this and other current UMCOR response efforts around the world.

Please pray for all those who have been affected by this disaster.
