UMCOR is responding to a request from the United Methodist Church in Mozambique for a grant to provide relief for victims of flooding. Heavy rains have been falling since December, hundreds of thousands are homeless, and crops have been washed away. These funds will be used to provide shelter, food, and medicine to combat malaria, cholera and water-borne diseases. To join in this response, please give to UMCOR's International Disaster Response, #982450-8 and designate "Mozambique floods."
UMCOR has sent a container of seeds to the Dominican Republic to help with ongoing recovery from the devastation of Hurricane Georges. Please continue your gifts to Hurricanes ‘98, Advance #982515-0 to assist with the ongoing response to both Hurricanes Georges and Mitch.
UMCOR has two containers with relief supplies ready to ship to Sierra Leone as soon as it is possible to get them into Freetown. Please join in this response to victims of the civil war by giving to Advance #181205-1 "Sierra Leone Emergency."
