UMCOR is responding to victims of the economic crisis in Nigeria with a grant that will provide shelter, food and medicine. UMCOR is also responding to people in the Democratic Republic of Congo who continue to be affected by civil war. Within the United States, UMCOR continues responding to victims of flooding and tornadoes. Grants recently have been sent to the Texas Annual Conference for victims of flooding in the Houston area and to the North Alabama conference for continued rebuilding from last year's tornadoes. UMCOR is helping to distribute winter coats and sweaters to refugees from Kosovo in Bosnia and Montenegro. A 40-foot container arrived in Bosnia in mid-January with donations from Lutheran World Relief and the UMCOR Depot in Baldwin, La.
