An UMCOR assessment team will travel to Colombia the week of February 1. In addition to assessment work, they will seek to establish relationships which will enable UMCOR to assist more fully with humanitarian relief and recovery efforts. To join in this response, please give to UMCOR's International Disaster Response, #982450-8 and designate your gift Colombia Earthquakes.
UMCOR disaster consultants remain on the scene in Tennessee following last week's tornadoes. Interfaith relief organizations are providing immediate assistance and planning for long-term recovery efforts. UMCOR has sent emergency grants to both the Memphis and Tennessee Annual Conferences. Your gifts to UMCOR Advance #901670-1, designated Tennessee Tornadoes will help people to rebuild and recover from these devastating storms. An UMCOR consultant will be in Arkansas the first week of February to lead a workshop on trauma healing and pastoral care for children in the wake of the tornadoes there.
UMCOR is making arrangements to respond with humanitarian assistance to the people of Sierra Leone as soon as it is possible to begin working in that country again. An initial shipment of health, homecoming, and school kits as well as blankets and medicine is being prepared. Please give to UMCOR's Sierra Leone Emergency, #181205-1.
Please remember those who suffer from hunger, poverty, disaster and war in your prayers.
