UMCOR Emergency Response staff and consultants are assisting disaster response workers in the Memphis Conference following the tornadoes in the Jackson, Tennessee area, and they are currently en route to Arkansas and the Clarksville, Tennessee area following the tornadoes last night and this morning. Your gifts to UMCOR's Domestic Disaster Response, #901670-1 will help provide immediate humanitarian assistance and long-term recovery. UMCOR will also be addressing the need for pastoral care following these devastating storms.

UMCOR will provide humanitarian assistance to the victims of civil conflict in Sierra Leone as soon as it is possible to work within that country. You can help ensure that UMCOR is ready to respond by giving to UMCOR's Sierra Leone Emergency, Advance #181205-1.

At the request of our church partners in the Caribbean and Central America, UMCOR has sent recent grants of nearly $500,000 to assist with recovery efforts in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua and Puerto Rico. These grants represent a fraction of the assistance that UMCOR has already provided and will continue to provide to those affected by Hurricanes Georges and Mitch. Please continue your generous gifts to the Churchwide Appeal for Hurricanes '98, #982515-0.

Please remember those who suffer from hunger, poverty, disaster and war in your prayers.
