UMCOR's latest relief efforts for victims of Hurricanes Georges and Mitch include $100,000 grants to our church partners in Nicaragua, Honduras, and the Dominican Republic. These grants are just a portion of UMCOR's response to people affected by these devastating hurricanes. Your gifts to the Churchwide Appeal for Hurricanes 98, Advance #982515-0 will be needed for the coming months and years.

UMCOR has responded to a request from the United Methodist Church in Angola with a grant that will help provide humanitarian relief to people suffering from renewed civil conflict in that country. Please give to UMCOR's International Disaster Response #982450-8.

The Spirit of Grace, a ship filled with relief goods, is scheduled to depart from Houston on January 22. The ship will stop in Nicaragua to drop off relief supplies for hurricane victims. It will then stop in California to pick-up fertilizer before crossing the Pacific to North Korea. The ship is also carrying food, seeds and medical supplies for people suffering from famine in North Korea. To join in these ongoing relief efforts, give to North Korea Emergency, Advance #226435-0.

Please remember those who suffer from hunger, poverty, disaster and war in your prayers.
