UMCOR is sending specially made gift kits for people in five communities in the Dominican Republic which were devastated by Hurricane Georges. These are health kits with an extra gift included that will be distributed on Three Kings Day, or Epiphany, which is a major holiday in the Dominican Republic. Please continue to remember the people of the Caribbean and Central America with your prayers and your gifts as they struggle to cope with the aftermath of Hurricanes Georges and Mitch. Give to Hurricanes 98, Advance #982515-0.

Fourteen interfaith recovery groups are responding to the victims of last fall's flooding in Texas. Rebuilding will begin in earnest after the first of the year. You may join in these recovery efforts by giving to UMCOR's Advance #901315-0, Texas Floods, and by volunteering. Call (800) 918-3100 for volunteer information.

UMCOR has responded with a financial grant to a request from The United Methodist Church in the Philippines to provide humanitarian aid to victims of El Niño related storms and weather conditions. Your ongoing gifts to UMCOR's International Disaster Response, #982450 make this kind of response possible.

As 1998 draws to a close, the UMCOR staff, consultants, and volunteers thank you for your generous gifts of money, time, energy and talent in responding to victims of natural disaster, war, hunger and poverty. We wish you a happy, meaningful New Year.
