UMCOR has sent a grant at the request of the Southwest Texas Conference to assist with relief efforts following flooding caused by tropical storm Charley. UMCOR is providing assistance to victims of the storm in Del Rio, Texas and across the border in Mexico. In addition to financial resources, UMCOR is providing power washers and flood bucket clean-up kits. A member of UMCOR's Catastrophic Disaster Response Team is working with the conference and the Bishop in Mexico to assess further needs.

UMCOR consultants are also on hand in North Carolina to assist with relief efforts from Hurricane Bonnie. At this writing it is too early to know the extent of the damage, but considerable clean-up and repair work will be needed.
