Thank you for calling the United Methodist Committee on Relief Hotline, Friday, August 14, 1998.

UMCOR is responding through ACT (Action by Churches Together) to victims of the bombing in Nairobi. To date United Methodists have given more than half a million dollars through UMCOR for famine relief. Thank you for your tremendous response to this disaster. UMCOR will continue to play a major role in famine relief efforts and needs your continuing support of Advance #226435, North Korea Emergency.

Other recent international relief efforts include emergency food for school feeding programs in Haiti, Kazakhstan and West Africa and a major grant to the United Methodist Church in Sierra Leone to provide food and other supplies for refugees and displaced persons, trauma healing and counseling, and containers sent from the U.S. full of relief supplies. Your support of UMCOR's International Disaster Response, #982450 is critical for these and other international relief efforts.
