UMCOR has sent a grant to the Florida Conference for continuing relief and recovery from the tornadoes in Central Florida and floods in North Florida. Disasters workers in Florida have compared their situation over the past several months to a very active hurricane season. With the start of the official hurricane season less than two weeks away, there is much to be done to repair, rebuild and prepare for the possibility of more severe weather.

UMCOR has also responded to El Niño disasters in Peru and Ecuador, and most recently Argentina where heavy rains have caused the worst flooding in history. The Evangelical Methodist Church of Argentina is providing relief efforts and planning for long-term recovery.
