Disaster coordinators and other conference and district leaders in North Central New York, Troy and New England Conferences continue to respond to needs arising from the ice storm. There are still people without power, and major plumbing and electrical repairs are needed. To respond to this disaster give to Advance #901670 and designate your gift "Northeast Winter Storm."
Bishop Ntambo from the Democratic Republic of Congo was in the UMCOR office today to report on the current cholera epidemic affecting two annual conferences. UMCOR has sent a grant that will provide medicine and enable medical workers to reach those who are affected. Please give to UMCOR's International Disaster Response #982450 and designate your gift "Cholera Epidemic."
To respond to unmet needs following flash flooding in Holston and Western North Carolina Conferences, please give to UMCOR's Domestic Disaster Response #901670 and designate your gift for flood relief in either conference.
The UMCOR assessment team that has been in Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands is returning. UMCOR will continue to respond to the devastation caused by Typhoon Paka and other recent typhoons by helping to rebuild houses and provide material resources. Since it is too far to send donated goods from the U.S. mainland, your financial offerings are the most effective way to respond to this disaster. Please give generously to Hurricanes '97, #982515-0.
Please remember those affected by these emergencies in your prayers.
