UMCOR has sent an initial emergency response grant to the Florida Conference for flood relief. Thousands of homes in South Florida were damaged. Also affected are migrant workers who depend on daily wages and cannot work because of flooded fields and damaged crops. This will be a long-term recovery and volunteers will be needed. At the request of the International Red Cross, UMCOR disaster response workers will be assessing damage from Hurricane Keith in the north central area of Belize and developing plans for a rebuilding program. UMCOR has sent a grant to the Palestinian Augusta Victoria Hospital in Jerusalem which will be used to replenish medicines and supplies.
