The most recent flooding in West Bengal, India has affected more than 15 million people. Many low-lying areas of Calcutta are underwater, and millions of villagers have been cut-off for the past week. UMCOR is working through our ecumenical partners to provide food, shelter, clean water, and sanitation. Please give to UMCOR Advance #229650-8, "Asia Floods."
UMCOR has sent an initial emergency grant to the West Ohio Conference for recovery from the tornado in Xenia. An UMCOR disaster response consultant is in Xenia helping the local churches develop plans to provide pastoral care and damage assessment. To join in this response, please give to UMCOR's Domestic Disaster Response, Advance #901670-1.
UMCOR has also sent emergency response grants to the Yellowstone Conference for recovery work from the fires in Montana. United Methodists are working with the Mennonite and Lutheran churches to replace hundreds of miles of fencing that burned and to replant grasslands to provide food for cattle and prevent soil erosion. Please join in this response by giving to Domestic Disaster Response, Advance #901670-1.
