UMCOR is responding to the suffering caused by ongoing civil strife in Mindanao in the Philippines. More than 300,000 people are affected, and entire communities have been dislocated. The United Methodist Church in the Philippines is one of three denominations in this region that are responding ecumenically to this crisis. They are providing food, health and hygiene kits, sleeping mats, blankets and medical assistance. They are also assisting farmers whose crops have been destroyed and helping to repair and rebuild houses that have been damaged. Please join in this response by giving to UMCOR's International Disaster Response, #982450-8. Designate "Philippines Emergency."
UMCOR is working with ecumenical partners to provide water, food, shelter, and medicine to people suffering from famine and war in Ethiopia and Eritrea. In Eritrea, countless people are wandering the countryside without food or shelter, and many others have gathered in ill-equipped camps. People have been displaced by the war and desperately need food and shelter. Your gifts are urgently needed. Please give to "Africa Famine Relief, Advance#101250-4.
