Your gifts to International Disaster Response have enabled UMCOR to support several emergency response projects around the world this past week. Grants have been sent to: an organization in Yugoslavia to support ongoing projects in conflict resolution and reconciliation between Muslims and Christians affected by the war; the United Methodist Church in the Philippines to provide food and building materials for survivors of flash flooding; the Liberia Annual Conference for their work with Liberian refugee youth living in camps in Ghana. A United Methodist Church has been started in the camp, and funds will support their efforts to provide constructive activities for young people, including woodworking classes and building huts. A grant has also been sent to the church in Liberia to provide safe drinking water for war orphans. Please give to International Disaster Response, #982450-8 so that UMCOR can continue to reach out with life-giving support and hope.
UMCOR has sent a grant to the New Mexico Annual Conference to provide assistance to fire victims. To join in this response, give to Domestic Disaster Response,#901670-1.
Your gifts are urgently needed for famine relief in Ethiopia and Eritrea. UMCOR partners are providing direct food relief, clean water, shelter, medicines, blankets, seeds, farm tools, fertilizers, and livestock. Please give to Africa Famine Relief, Advance #101250-4.
Gifts may be made through local United Methodist churches, or by calling 1-800-554-8583. Credit card donations are accepted. (Read more about how you can help UMCOR's emergency responses.)
Please pray for all who suffer from natural and human-made disasters,
hunger, and poverty.
