UMCOR continues to respond to the catastrophic flooding in Mozambique. Worse flooding is expected over the next few days as rivers beginning in other countries continue to pour waves of floodwater into Mozambique. UMCOR has sent $80,000 to the United Methodist Church in Mozambique as well as a shipment of relief supplies, including high-capacity water purification units. An additional shipment left the UMCOR Depot March 2 with health kits, emergency food rations, mosquito netting units and oral rehydration salts. Millions of dollars will be needed to provide relief supplies and assist the people of Mozambique as they recover over the next several years. Please give to UMCOR Advance #156500-0.

Health kits will be needed to replenish the Depot supplies and for future shipments to Mozambique and other areas of the world. Call the Depot at (800) 814-8765 for health kit assembly and shipping instructions. Information is also available on the following UMCOR web page: http://gbgm-umc.org/units/umcor/kits.html#Health Kit

An interfaith group is forming in Southwest Georgia to coordinate the tornado recovery efforts. United Methodists are taking a leadership role in this group. Volunteers continue to help with clean-up and debris removal. In North Carolina, more than 9,000 volunteers have helped with rebuilding work from the floods. There is an urgent need for more volunteer teams. Please call the Volunteer Line at (800) 918-3100.

Disaster workers in Northeastern Kentucky have been assessing damage from the recent flooding, and recovery work continues in Northwestern Kentucky from the January tornadoes. Please continue your gifts to UMCOR's Domestic Disaster Response, Advance #901670-1 and the Churchwide Appeal for Major Storm Devastation '99, Advance #982460-1.

UMCOR has sent a grant of $50,000 through ACT (Action by Churches Together) for the continuing famine relief efforts in North Korea. You may join in this ongoing response by giving to UMCOR Advance #226435-0 "North Korea Emergency."

Gifts may be made through local United Methodist churches, or by calling 1-800-554-8583.Credit card donations are accepted. (Read more about how you can help UMCOR's emergency responses.)

Please pray for all who suffer from natural and human-made disasters, hunger, and poverty.
